DOUGLAS — Bastien said her inspiration comes from a variety of different sources, with some of her stories, such as “London Rescue” and “Fallen Robin,” pulling from real life motivation and others, such as “Grape Seed” and “Two Trails,” stemming from imagination.
“I wanted to focus on helping kids deal with fear. There are many scary things that happen each day and some kids do not know what to do when they are scared or in danger. I hope my book will help my readers be fearless.”

DOUGLAS — Soon to-be-famous author Emily Bastien has published her first book, with many more sure to follow. The 7-year-old Douglas resident self-published “Aqua Tales: Stories About Kids Solving Problems,” with endless support from not only her parents, but her teachers at Whitinsville Christian School.

Seven-year-old Douglas native Emily Bastien published her first book this year, making her one of the youngest published authors around.
